Selecting Courses
Insight's wide range of courses attracts many students by appealing to their specific interests. The process of selecting from a list of 120+ courses is an exciting time-a time when you get to think about your future goals, embrace your curiosities, and begin (or continue) your journey towards your high school diploma.
A three-step process makes course selection simple and informed:
Step 1: You are guided to think about what you've accomplished before Insight, what you are interested in, and what you might want to do during and after high school.
Step 2: You make your initial selection of courses based on what you've come up with in Step 1 and prior credits you may have earned towards your high school diploma.
Step 3: After making your selections, our Academic Counselor reviews with you your choices to be sure you are making good progress towards graduation requirements, that you're starting in the appropriate level, and that you're excited and interested in the courses you have selected.
Although our course selection process is structured, it is not restrictive. Some students have a clear vision of what they want high school to be like for them; others use it as a time to explore what interests them. Either way, tools, support and guidance are available to you every step of the way.
Placement tests help you determine at what level you should start. And our Academic Counselors work with you to balance course exploration with meeting graduation requirements, challenging you to help you grow while not overwhelming or discouraging you.
